Puppy time!
Yesterday afternoon, Twinkle decided that in front of the wood stove on a fluffy pillow was the best place to have the babies. Bookie and Sparkle were caught unaware and dozed through the first part of it all.
But when they realized what was happening, Bookie took off to hide under something (anything, just HIDE, Bookie, HIDE!!!) and Sparkle sat nearby to offer moral support and keep an eye on Twinks.
Poor Twinks, I was worried about her at first. She kept staring into my eyes, asking for help. Then, when the first baby came along, she was exhausted and took a little nap. But when she woke up, she was ready for business and at full attention to the babies. All it took was one little squeaky toy sounding peep from puppy #1 to make her realize these guys were hers and they were pretty interesting.
Who wouldn't fall in love with this?
And good thing she figured it out after the first one, because 5 more little squeaky toys came along soon after.
All girls!
This morning, Twinkle can't be convinced that the babies would be happier kept in a box, she keeps taking them to the sofa or to MY bed. While I find them totally adorable, I also find them stinky and messy. So I have a feeling that she will not be getting her way, these girls will be staying in the box for the next couple of weeks until we set up a play ground for them to romp in.
Since I finished my book yesterday, I might need a project I can work on in the house, and stay near the new mama, she is a bit nervous and I don't want to be out in the studio for long. I'd better get back in to them now, please forgive me if I don't answer emails today.
Oh what sweet puppies!!!! Congrats to Twinkle! I hope you can get some sleep too. Maybe it would be a good baking/cooking day :)

Oh, what fun news to find!!! Karla, I've missed you so much!!! My life has been all upside down this past year and I just can't keep up with everyone... you finished a book?!!! That's wonderful!!!! I hope you had a good Christmas and I'll have to take some time and go back through your blog. Thanks for being such a great inspiration for me. And I want a puppy!!!! Too bad Craig wouldn't be up for that right now!!! ;)

Karla, how wonderful to have 6 tiny little bundles of joy. Twinks wants only the best for her babies hence she dicided your bed was the place to be. They are precious. How long before they will be running around everywhere? You try and get some rest now, you hear? I do beleive you are going to need it for sure.

Poor baby, she looks totally wiped out in that first photo. Wow, all girls and they're the same color. Is the daddy that black and brown color? I guess you can thank your lucky stars she didn't have them on the couch or in your bed. Is this her first litter?

It makes me want to go out and get a dog so that I can have puppies one day. HowEVeR, I have a 3, 2, and 1 year old, and I heard that the best time to get a dog is when your kids are in middle school. I already have three babies, I'll just have to wait and dream about the day I get a dog...

They are sooooo cute!!! When my mommy dogs gave birth I would fortify their diet with boiled chicken, broth and steamed rice. Made for a healthy mom and pups (our Sadie girl gave birth to 10 pups!)

I have never blogged as of yet, but when I saw your puppies I had to tell you thank you. My little Tilly was a Yorkie and he died after 15 years and I miss him a lot. I remember when he was born and looked just like these babies. His hair was very pretty and always was in eyes like your little girl. I tried putting in a bow but my son was sure boys did not wear bows. Thank you,again

How adorable!! I have a Yorkie named Mollie,she came from the rescue, after 4 years of being breed stock for a pet shop in South Beach, Florida. She was pregnant when the rescue picked her up and my granddaughters have her son " Cinnamon". I had Lasha's prior but from now on it will be nothing but Yorkies. She is great company I always tell her I should have named her shadow, she is always with me.
