Dear little Pixie Pie is ill. She is in the hospital with meningitis.
Her mother posted on Facebook that the hospital has a site where you can make a free card for her, with a message that the staff will print and take to her. She is 4 and loves to get cards. If you'd like to send her one, it just takes a couple of seconds to do, and I'm sure she will enjoy getting one.
It breaks my heart to think of her in pain.

YIKES! My niece in CA had it this summer! So scary! Reminds me to stop putting off asking for the vaccine for my kids! My thoughts are with her and family. If it's any consolation, my niece made a full recovery within 3 months :)

Oh Karla you have mine! My niece had it about 10 years ago and it was the scariest thing we have ever been through. Our prayers were answered, not the way I had hoped at the time-I wanted her well quickly-but she has recovered completely and you would never know what she went through even though she did lose the hearing in one ear. I hope you sweet little pixie get to the other side of that horrible virus none the worse for it too.

Oh dear...prayers for sure! I too contracted meningitis when I was 4. That was 38 years ago, but I still have vague memories of waking up in the hospital...
Please keep us posted...viral or bacterial? I believe bacterial is the more serious, but viral is dangerous too. (I had viral) I know that they now vaccinate infants against viral.

Oh Karla, I'm so sad to hear this. The poor dear. She's a very sick girl indeed. Lots of love and payers for her swift recovery. No sweet child should have to deal with so much discomfort. I would love to send her a card, it's such a tiny thing to do but lifted spirits are sometimes the best medicine.

We have had a few cases here in VA lately. My little brother also had it when he was very little. I will pray that Pixie Pie fights hard and kicks those germie booties!
