I think the old ones were called cotton batting ornaments..made by cottage craftspeople as far back as 1800s...love your interpretations :)

Thanks, Elaine! Ive heard of spun cotton ornaments too. Maybe I shouldnt be using wool? I wonder if they are supposed to be cotton.

Maybe that is what Im thinking of. I know Ive seen old ornaments with wrapped bodies and paper faces.
