Janet Ghio

Karla-is there any time limit on the class?

Karla Nathan

No, not at all, Janet. It is all done in blog form, with a post for each segment. They are all posted and ready to go, for you to read at your leisure or to refer back to in a couple years from now if youd like.

Have been waiting for this tutorial, and just purchased it from your site. Yay Karky!!! We are leaving on a two week adventure soon and can't wait to soak up your expertise like a sponge for my journaling! I do have a quick question, do you give specific info on paint pens you prefer in the tutorial? I went to Michaels to pick up some colors and was overwhelmed by the variety available. The salesperson said some were even specific to particular papers. So do you have favorite brands you like? Or prefer paint pens over markers etc. etc. Thanks!

Karla Nathan

Liz, this tutorial is more for creating the covers and different things to use to make the covers. There are some tips on interior pages and doodle sheets to color as well as ideas on how to freehand doodle pages yourself. But it does focus mostly on the structural part of making covers for a romantically inspired book.

As far as markers, Coptic or is it copic? Pens are hard to beat. If you get them, be sure and buy the blender too. I do use regular markers too, and always accompany them with an opaque white, ink pen. You can add highlights and bring out details after youve colored in with markers. I also add sparkle with gelly roll stardust glitter pens in clear, as well as with other glitter and metallic pens. Its good to have a fine point black marker to touch up with too.

Oh, and sometimes I use paint and ink pads too. I dont care which papers I use them on, I use varieties of papers in the books.
