Puppy puzzles, or origami?

Ta-dah!  A puppy heart!

And a puppy Oreo?

We got carried away.

Beth, Karla, and I started out with line ups, trying to pet sleepy puppies into oblivion so they could be placed in a row and not wriggle around waking each other up and messing with our design. 

First was just the girls.

Then the boys.

And then, ALL of the babies were put in a row.  That is an accomplishment.

While this is an entertaining thing to do, it is also very good conditioning for the babies.  They need to be handled, and made to feel comfortable by people other than just me.  And by doing this, they are learning to be trusting enough to be and cozy and feel safe with humans.


I was pretty pleased with the heart, too. 

Afterwards, we tucked them back into their nest and left them to snuggle up on their own.

Karla looked over and noticed they had formed a heart all by themselves!

I said that they are very smart dogs and learned tricks quickly.  Plus, they had excellent trainers.  

 

 

Bath day for the goldendoodle pups

Looks like a bath is in order after all of this, huh?

Wrong!

This is already after the bath! See how nicely the dirt sticks to the still damp fur?

This girl started it all.

And seems quite satisfied with how it all turned out.

A heart shaped nose

No need for me to maneuver  puppies into a heart shape today.  This pup has a heart to share already- look at that nose!

Seriously?  How cute!

 

I ❤️ Goldendoodle Babies!

Playing with sleepy puppies is wonderful.  I like to try to line them all up by color, or on their backs, or facing each other. 

But the most fun is to get them to nestle into a heart shape.

This open heart isn’t easy, because they like to be on top of each other.

So I tried a cuddle puddle heart.

The trick is to snuggle each baby, and pet it until all of its wriggling stops.  When it is dozing, gently place it where it needs to be, hoping not to wake the others.  I try softly scooching them into position, and stroking their backs as I move them.

The more content and comfy they are, the easier it is  to move them into a shape or line them  up.

So, while it looks like I might be messing with them, what I am actually doing is socializing them to be soothed by human touch.
