Your room has turned out gorgeous!! You can be sattified! Funny that you mention that you always seem to come back to that 'vine'shape. When I was a student (about 3 lives ago) I took a course experimental painting. We started with paper, pencils, tape, rope and a lot of other stuff. Each week one item was taken away, until the last week you only had your paper. When all artpieces of one person were put together, you could almost always see a personal blueprint. Most people are faithful to one shape. In my case it was an oval organic shape at that time. Now I see your pictures I'm inspired to look around here too! Great give away (pick me, pick me!!). Have a nice day!

You have a beautiful home! What a great idea to add vines to the sidewalk! Love all the treasures in your very generous Garage Sailing Giveaway!

Happy treasure hunting and have a great day!

Love the vines, I tend to use a lot of vines and black and white checks. I love the graphic punch they give. They may be old hat but I love them anyway.

Lori

Karla, the color you used for your bedroom is so pretty!!! and your vines all look delightful!!!

Linda and Laura Lilly Cottage

My Goodness your cottage is stunning, I too adore vines and yes somehow they creep into every drawing, stitchery and display I can think of, I even had them in my wedding bouquet and on the tables at the reception. Poor Mums plant looked a little worse for wear after I raided it but it was worth it and it did grow back as gorgeous as ever. I love your painted swirly vines, just perfect. Have a wonderful day, kiss noises Linda Lilly Cottage.

I just love your pictures of your bedroom. I've got to ask is that old book pages lining one of your walls? I just love it!

Gail

Your bedroom is oh so pretty and Twinkle looks like a little princess on the bed.

Do you think lizards hide in the vines?

Nancy ~ Fete et Fleur

OM Goodness! You are AMAZING!! I love all that you have done.

Hugs! Nancy

Rochelle Gaukel

I just love, love, love what you have done with your bedroom. It is stunning and serene. The ceiling is a masterpiece on it's own and is amazing. You give me much inspiration to accomplish some long awaited projects that I have brewing in my brain. Thanks for a look into your wonderful home!
Rochelle

Kelley

Oh I love the Behr paints too. You've inspired me (AGAIN), Perhaps, I could just paint my WALLS, since you can manage to paint the ceiling in between projects, lol! How's that article btw? I picture you up on a painter's ladder with your laptop! :D

Barbara

That ceiling is fabulous (although my neck aches just thinking about attempting that!) I love your vines in the concrete best of all - it takes spirit to do something that permanent!

Dawn

Karla, I'm the same way!! I love the simplicity of the vines...seems as though the green is a neutral, you know? And you're right about Behr paint, I've painted furniture for years and always loved it!! Have you ever painted with any Oops paint of Ralph Lauren from Home Depot? OMGoodness, I love the flat and then would embellish the furniture with a bit of decorative stuff and then clear coat with a non-yellowing matte clear coat....painting is hard work girl and your room is just beautiful!!! xxoo, Dawn

Sarah

You have such a beautiful home! I love love love your bedroom. I would love to decorate my home the way that you have, but I haven't quite convinced my husband yet. He doesn't want to come home to anything too girly, so I have to be careful and every so often I slip something new in. He never notices and I have a a huge grin inside knowing that he doesn't ever realize that slowly his house is becoming girly! LOL!!!!

Sarah

I love love love your home! I would love to decorate my home like yours but I am having trouble convincing my husband because he doesn't want to live in a "girly" house. So what I have been doing is every so often I add something new to the decor and wait to see if he notices. Of course he doesn't and he still hasn't realized that he is starting to live in a girly house. LOL

María Elena

Karla, your details in his home are spectacular.

Shawn

Your bedroom is gorgeous! I love vines too there is just something peaceful about them :)

miss gracies house

Your bedroom is turning out very nice-soo peaceful and romantic! I love the wallpaper on your stairs-that is a great idea!

Sue

Love all the tendrils and vines! Thanks for sharing. It is so neat to walk around our home and find recurring themes and colors. That's when we really know we've created something that speaks of who we are. I really enjoy your creations!

Linda

Hi Karla,
I love the colour of your bedroom can't wait to see the rest of it. All the vines look amazing I really like the ones on your bedroom ceiling though. I would of loved to see the look on the contractors face.
Cheers Linda

Karen Young

Karla, the bedroom turned out lovely. I love vines and the ones you did in the cement are fantastic.

Karen

pamelajane

Love your redo of your cottage-y bedroom, especially the vines you've painted on the ceiling!

Alison Gibbs

Oh Karla not only do you have
a Vintage Millinery fetish but
also a Vine fetish!!!LOL
Alison

Joanne Kennedy

I adore all the painted vines throughout your house. Since you brought it up I've noticed I'm starting to get a bird theme thoughout my house. I think I have at least one bird in every room.

Love your give away. Wow! Hope I win.

Hugs,
Joanne

Debra Johnson

ooooo many beautiful niches in your home - all so lovely and unique;) Soooooo fun to them!! Thank you for sharing!! That ceiling is absolutely gorgeous and the feel of the room is exactly what you were going for!!! Loved it!!! How wonderful that you've found you have a 'theme' - even though you did not know it until now - hehe!! My poor house has no theme...just lots of different ‘things’…I bet somewhere it is calling out for unity!! But alas, it may have to wait to the next owner…it will have to settle for ‘eclectic mess’ as some sort of banding title.

Again….I’m soooo taken with that gorgeous ceiling….wonder if my husband would let me paint the……. garage ceiling?? Perhaps this is where forgiveness is better to ask for than permission?? HHhmmm….. Debra

Pam Schroeder

The bedroom has so much personality - I love it! Too many rooms are DULL....or copies of what someone else likes rather than a reflection of ourselves. I envy your artistic talent as well. Well done!

Beverly

I am a firm believer that vines are "a good thing", and your house just has to be a great place to be.

I have an addiction to ivy. ;-)

Rosie's Whimsy

Your home is so beautiful. All the extra painted touches are so perfect.

gail

Your room turned out beautiful as usual! I really do love the vines on the ceiling. I am usually a "green" girl, but I do love the blueish color you painted on your bedroom walls! Also, I love the vines and roses in the rest of your house, it's all a dream!

Debbie

Your bedroom ia beautiful, you talented girl! Also, I love the vines in the concrete. I too like to work with Behr paint, it's like painting with pudding.
I don't have that kind of theme in my home, but have come to realize I am crazy about mirrors and lighting. I just can't seem to stop buying either. If you saw the number of mirrors in my home you would think I am vane indeed!
Thanks for sharing! As always you are inspiring!

clarice

Karla what a beautiful room. I really LOVE your bed. Clarice

Joanna

What a site! That is simple beautiful... I think I would lock myself away if my bedroom was half as beautiful as yours. xoxo, Joanna

Lorrie

Your bedroom is a place to dream and rest - the colour is simply beautiful. And the vines on the ceiling - will you come and do my ceiling too? If only...

Lorrie

Betty @ She's Sew Pretty

Oh my gosh, Karla! Your bedroom is gorgeous and that ceiling is just fantastic!!

Trish

Oh karla, I just love your ceiling, and your stairs and...and...and.... your house seems so beautiful

Jeanie

Lovely, Karla. Beautiful and restful. Ms. Twinkle looked like a toy stuffy sitting on that pretty bed! That's a huge amount of work, but it really paid off! Thanks also, for the tour of vines -- your space is always a lovely inspiration!

karenmiss_k_p

Your bedroom redo is beautiful! I think you hit the calm, luxurious theme right on the head! Your vines are wonderful; I especially loved the ones you did with a stick in the wet cement. We are pouring a slab soon and I think I will copy your idea. It's a graceful touch in a big, blocky pad of cement. Thanks for the inspiration!

Amy of Bunny Rose Cottage

I love all of the vines Karla! They are unique and so pretty. Your home is perfect. You also have rose vines on the side of your blog! I notice so many garden them items in my home. Birds, watering cans and birdhouses! I do love them! I love how you have painted all the details in your home. Your bedroom looks so inviting and soothing! I would never want to leave!

Hugs,
Amy

Liz

Oh my goodness Karla! I cannot get over that ceiling.. your bedroom is fantastic. And your little dog! I adore Yorkies.

cindy~my romantic home

I LOVE the ceiling! I also love your bed with that mirror over it! I agree with you on Behr paint! I love that stuff and the price is almost half of what some other paints cost!

Lisa

What a beautiful room for you! I admit I am a bit too timid with the paint to do all the lovely details you have added. Maybe I will be inspired enough to give it a try. After all, a bit more paint would just cover it right up.
Thanks for the view of your lovely home. I so enjoy seeing all you do.

judy_1212@msn.com

I love the room. You are so talented and do such beautiful work. I love the cement scrolls too, what a neat touch

I LOVE your ceiling!

When you antiqued the doors, did you brush the glaze on and then wipe it off with a rag? It looks like a see brush strokes.

All of your vines are awesome. I love the door you painted the vines on.It is stunning...Smiles and sunshine to you...Mary

Michele

Your bedroom is STUNNING!!! It truly is a romantic retreat, and all the special touches you added make it even more wonderful! I don't even know where to start because I LOVE everything in there!! My favorite has to be the ceiling, though! WOW, how I wish I could do something like that on my ceiling. Probably won't happen since I live in an apartment, and I can't paint, lol. Two strikes against me there!!

To answer your question about an unexpected theme in our homes, I have recently noticed a love of all things bird and bird related.

I love the Garage Sailing Giveaway items, and you're very, very generous to be offering such a GREAT treasure trove of goodies!! Thank you!!!

Hugs,
Michele

I cannot imagine how long it took your neck to feel okay again after looking up all that time. Beautiful work.

Hilary McDaniel

Your home is truly a reflection of your love of life. I see romance reality come to life when I see your talents. I admire your tenacity to "finish" projects such as those. Your neck and back must ache after a marathon painting like your ceiling. Your efforts are well worth it, though. No one has a home like yours and I know your inspiration feeds off itself by living w/such creativity. You are truly talented.
I love that watering can you painted. Something so simple makes such an impact. Keep up your inspiration for us as it's so much fun to see. thanks, hilary

kariandkijsa

Love the finish on the ceiling (actually we love everything...but the ceiling was our favorite)!

Have a blessed and wonderful day!

Cute little dog. I am definitely a dog person. I love the floor in your guest bath and the ceiling. My goodness! You hand painted that? You are a talent!
I love the idea of garage sale finds giveaway!

Karla,

I just love how you painted your ceiling in the sepia and bronze tones, it turned out beautifully! You've been so busy and I have much to catch up on-love all your interior photos. You've been very busy. Thank you for stopping by and the good wishes, I too would prefer the scrapbook memories of this injury!

judy rawnsley

I miss my little yorkie, Blossom, she passed away last year of congestive heart failure. Her favorite thing to do when I was painting was lay down in the paint tray. I need to adopt a yorkie again I think.

I watched the video of sugarwings and twinkle, I cringed at the bare feet on the gravel....but of course, accessorized nicely with a purse.
Twinkles is darling in her little rose strewn sundress, all summery and sweet.

Joanne

I love what you did to the concrete - what a great idea! I find colors are cropping up in my house - reds and greens, I love them.
Joanne

Karla

I'd say you were a vine-aholic....but in a very good way! Love the ceiling, but did you need a nice neck massage afterwards? Everything is just beautiful in you home!!
Karla & Karrie too

ruth miller

I love what you have done to your home. Absolutely beautiful. I've seen wallpaper on step risers, but none as lovely as yours. You havve given me several ideas for rooms in my old house !

It's just so great to cuddle all day in this charming bedroom, especially if you have a furry friend to accompany you! This room looks like it was inspired by fairy tales. The beauty of the ceiling with the vine design is absolutely admirable. For some reason, it reminds me of Sleeping Beauty. Hehe! I also like the artistic touch given by the mosaic tiles you used on the steps leading to your room. I love your bedroom!
