One of my favorite things about fall is the pumpkin patch. Going there reminds me of my dad, who used to grow pumpkins for me when I was a kid. I loved each and everyone of them, named them, loaded them in my wagon and pulled them around wrapped up in baby blankets.
I feel like a kid again when I take the little grand fairies to visit our pumpkin friends, and every Autumn, I try to make as many trips out there as I can. Its a nice walk on a crisp fall day.
Especially since I got to spend an afternoon with my grown up son and his baby. In our busy world, we don't get a lot of time together. When he was little, I used to call him my shadow. In my mind, he'll always be that little five year old who never left my side.
Time goes on, little ones grow up, seasons change.
Fall is a reminder of the changes in life as well as seasons. I hope that I am creating some long lasting memories for Sugarwings and Dewdrop. I know that they are doing that for me. Meandering through the pumpkins every Autumn with the little girls will be something that stays with me forever.
Such a simple way to spend an afternoon, but aren't those kind of days always the best?
Karla... your love for your family shows up so beautifully in your posts! And it triggers memories for your readers, as well! My first thought that has not left me yet, is the picture I have of my boys in the pumpkin patch with my mom. Crystal clear, sunny, but cool day, in Connecticut with Peter holding his pick from the patch and Michael still looking. Mom looked so pretty in her navy cardigan (would she choose any other color??!!). Thanks for this sweet post ... great way to start the day!

Karla,
Dewdrop is growing up so fast and she is just adorable! I get to go on an all day filed trip with my oldest grand this week to a pumpkin farm with hay rides, corn maze, and and I don't know what all, I too am looking forward to making a memory with him. Enjoy your Monday!

How much fun you are having! Alas and Alack our son and his wife who are expecting the end of this month, live in another state and same with daughter and her family! When our g'twins were about 2.5 yrs. we took them to the local Pumpkin Patch and had a ton of fun and lots of pics. I think this year I'll go with a friend and her g'kids!! Thanks, again, for sharing this post!
