While Guncle Randy was here, I took him sightseeing, Kansas Style.
I am not a native Kansan, but have embraced it as my home. And I adore the endless vistas of fields of sunflowers in the late summer, or pumpkins when fall arrives.
This year, the drought slowed down the sunflowers, but there were enough in bloom to show my Floridian, baby bro the Kansas scenery that I love.
We almost didn't stop, it was a little bit out of the way on our trip home from the flea market.
But I am so glad we made the effort, it was a fun side trip, and well worth the short drive.
LOVE! I'm a Kansas transplant too...we're in SE KS! Hubby was born and raised here, so we came "home" for him.
We usually grow sunflowers in our front yard. We live on Hwy 7 in Crawford Co, in the middle of town (rural farming town), and folks see our sunflowers. I love putting out the Russian Mammoths or the colorful Indian ones. Then, if the birds leave any seeds, roasting the seeds for snack.

My son grew some in front of his farm, along the road this year and they looked great too. Mine didn’t do as well as I’d hoped, but it was a rough year. I’m glad you had success with your sunflowers!

I love that as adults you and your brother have stayed so close. My brother too has stayed one of my best friends throughout my whole life. we were often poor and lived in rural settings so it was just us, and im so thankful for it. Now as a widow without parents, its wonderful to have someone who shares all the same memories from years past. Were in our 50s but sometimes its as though we are still teenagers together. What a blessing brothers are, theres nothing else like them.

I love that guy, but he and I started out as good friends, then I met and married his brother! I’ve known him longer than my husband and consider him the brother of my heart. I’m lucky to have two fantastic sisters of my own that I am also best friends with plus the ones I inherited from my husband too. They will always be blessings to me too.
